Neutering (male)

Neutering your pet has many benefits. The procedure, which prevents male animals from reproducing, can help your dog, cat, rabbit or guinea pig live a longer, healthier life.

By neutering your pet, you’re reducing or eliminating his risk for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as sexually transmitted diseases. Neutering will also reduce or eliminate certain behaviours, including roaming, fighting, humping, and spraying. In addition, neutering your pet will help control the dog and cat overpopulation problem, keeping more animals out of shelters.

Neutering, which involves removing the testicles, is a surgical procedure and must be performed with your pet under general anesthesia. As an AAHA certified practice your can rest assured that the Martensville veterinary team follows strict protocols for high quality material, cleanliness, pain management and anesthesia during all dog and cat neuters. Please see the descriptions under Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring for more information on what we do to keep your pet safe while he is being neutered at our vet clinic in Martensville. Our AAHA certification is proof that we want to be the best spay or neuter clinic in the Saskatoon area- the safest place to neuter your dog or cat, but also the best value for neutering.
